Stairs……at last!

We won’t dwell on the negative, but the stairs on this project have been a serious challenge.  They are not complicated, nor expensive, but they are “out of the ordinary” enough that we had no end of problems finding a subcontractor to build them.  In the end, the stairs were welded on site from salvaged steel stringers and installed in about 2.5 days.    The entire house has been built on ladders until now, because we could not get someone to do 2.5 days of work.  In any case – they are in now, and we are moving ahead quickly.  Here are some images of the frames in place before the 2” thick re-claimed Ash treads are installed.  Kudos to Black Anvil Welding Shop from Carp who produced our solar thermal rack on the roof, and came back to build our stairs when nobody else would.   Now that they are in place, we finally removed the temporary platforms at each floor so you can experience the openness of the stairwell concept
