Petite Rivière

We have been absolutely pleased with BuildGreen's work on Petite Rivière from the very first day. Their professionalism and leadership set them apart, and their contributions to the project have been important and thoughtful.

BuildGreen Solutions is a key member of the design team, lead by L’OEUF Architecture, for this ambitious project to convert a former golf course into a zero-carbon infill neighbourhood development in Montreal, Quebec.

The project will take 8 to 10 years to build out and will ultimately have 1500-1900 dwelling units in its initial phase as well as approximately 4,000 square meters of commercial space and community amenity buildings.  This site, and a commitment to the Principles of One Planet Living, provides an unprecedented opportunity to demonstrate truly sustainable development as a national model in Canada.

BuildGreen provided sustainability consultation with an emphasis on community-scale renewable energy infrastructure and associated demand side management strategies, along with cost modeling and financial advisement as it relates to green infrastructure.  We participated in a series of charrettes and workshops on all aspects of sustainable planning including energy, waste, natural systems, social systems, and transportation. BuildGreen is working with the utility company and municipality on energy systems infrastructure related to the potential for a waste-to-energy plant that would convert kitchen scraps to bio-gas to fire a co-generation plant for the community.

This project builds on BuildGreen’s experience as a Senior Technical Consultant with One Planet Communities, assisting with the initial sustainability planning and visioning. We continue to play an important advocacy role as this project moves through to the approvals process.
