LEED Consulting

In a LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) project we view our role primarily as facilitators. We use LEED as a tool to help encourage the design team to create triple bottom line (environmental, social, economic) solutions.  Our approach in coordinating a LEED submittal is to educate all design and construction team members early in the process as to what will be required of them, assign tasks and letter templates to appropriate parties, and then ensure those parties complete designs and tasks in a timely manner.  Through this process, we aim to create capacity within clients’ organizations to apply green practices more broadly.  We provide advice and guidance on the process, and coordinate the final electronic submission to the CaGBC.

BuildGreen Solutions has a deep history of successful LEED projects, including some of the first projects in Canada, and the highest-ever score on a LEED Platinum project.  Our firm has been involved with over 40 LEED projects in Canada, the United States and Mexico.  These include building projects under a variety of the LEED rating systems, as well as research and tool development projects. Through this experience, we have finely tuned our LEED consulting work to apply effective, cost efficient and straightforward processes, resources, tools and strategies.

Our team offers particular expertise in LEED for Neighbourhood Developments (LEED-ND), a rating system within the LEED family of tools which helps identify the crucial features of sustainable community design.  The system is a point-based, non-prescriptive system much like the LEED rating system for New Construction, rewarding excellent performance and allowing flexibility in achieving various certification levels.  Our partner Rodney Wilts sits on the Canada Green Building Council’s Core Committee for LEED-ND, and we are delivering several LEED-ND projects.
